Over my 66 years here on earth I have had dental work done on my teeth and I know most of you have too. Our internet store www.lionfootweardirect.com has the best price on the internet for Birko balance, Birko sport, Birko motion, and Blue heeled arch supports. In my youth I found out going to the dentist was not much fun. In those days dentists had poor pain killers and the drills they used when filling your teeth were slow. I had a friend whose dad was a dentist, and he told me the dentist uses the drill to make cuts in your teeth and in those days the dentist had to have strong hands to make these cuts in your teeth. The drill would start out fast and get slower as he bore into your tooth. The dental offices had a unique odor like disinfectant and they had a huge light shining down so he could see what he was doing. The best part about going to the dentist was leaving after he was finished. When I moved to Red Oak, Iowa in the early 60’s it was very difficult to get in to to see a dentist. I stopped in a dental office to see if I could get an appointment and the gal at the desk laughed and said they were not taking on any new patients. The dentist I finally got in to see smoked cigarettes and would smoke while he was waiting for the filling to set up. Then he would start working on the filling and I could smell cigarettes on his breath. He did not like to use novacaine and when I would complain about the pain he would say he was almost done drilling. He had a new high speed drill but was not sure of himself when he used it. These new high speed drills can do a lot of damage fast if they are not used correctly. The dentist I see now is very good and almost pain free. A few years ago my dentist tried to pull a tooth and was having a lot of trouble doing it when she broke the tooth off. She found out the dental surgeon from Council Bluffs, Iowa was working in the Shenandoah office and I was sent there so he could finish pulling my tooth. When I arrived at the office the receptionist gave me a clip board with a long form to fill out. I had seen this surgical group before and the pain killer I had been given by my dentist was wearing off and my tooth was starting to hurt. I had filled out this form before and said I didn’t think I needed to fill it out. She told me if I didn’t fill it out I would not be able to see the dentist so I filled out the form. When I finally got in to see the surgeon he shot my tooth up again and in less than a minute he pulled the tooth. I have six gold crowns in my mouth and recently had to have a filling in a tooth with a crown on it. I am having the crown replaced at a cost of $900.00. OUCH!
