We started with some great help

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

We started Lion Footwear when I (Bill) was working at Rockport and right after 911. The original idea was to cater to airline workers and business travelers needing airport security friendly footwear.

Soon after it became driven to employees needing good workwear that was quality and a value when I flew out to Navado CA to meet with Margo Fraser of Birkenstock USA as she and her team wanted to launch a Business to Business marketing of their Birkenstock Brands there marketing arm for this became Lion Footwear Direct.

We quickly grew with partners like Lowes, American Airlines, Frontier, Southwest Airlines, Mayo Clinic, Trinity and HCA hospital corporations. We provide a key employee benefit to their employees as happy feet equal more employee productivity.

We now bring you more brands and new products as we care not about quantity but the quality of the offerings we have. We do look for the APMA seal and validations from medical professionals on everything we offer.

We opened a retail location and branched into scubs and medical apperal. We have since sold that portion of the business as timing is everything.

In the mean time we began dealing with Ultimate Protien as Dave and I are avid weight and exercise junkies. The side result of this was many gastric by-pass surgery patients needed the protien value it offered in their recovery and diet. So now we seek health products that make a changes possible too.

We hope you find we care about the shoes on your feet and the quality of your life.

By the way when you go to San Francisco area take an extra suit case for sour dough bread! Everyone needs one bad habit.

35 Years in the Shoe business….

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Destin to help people with their feet. That seems to be my calling. Im’ Bill, Dave’s partner here at Lion Footwear Direct. I have been fitting shoes and helping relieve sore feet for 35 years. Truth is I started young, as my father was running a small group of 86 shoe stores called Browns Shoe Fit. I learned to recognize plantar flatia problems (Sore Feet and aching arches) in the customers who had been mis fit or wearing poor quality, yes cheap, shoes. I became a trained pedorthest, (CPED) building custom orthotics for athletes and patients from all walks of life costing them hundreds of dollars.

I then became determined to work with companies, marketing and designing better shoes for people who worked on their feet. Building in features that help feet feel better.

I began my career in footcare at retail but soon moved into the manufacturing side of things at SAS or San Antonio Shoe Company. That proved to be less of a challange and a better fit came along with The Rockport Company then HH Brown,( Soft Spot, Born, Nurse Mate) then to Airwalk, Skechers, back to Rockport then in 2003 Crocs.

Since 2000 I have worked with Dave on building Lion Footwear Direct into a site for people who work on their feet. A place to find shoes that help your day be more comfortable. All at a great value and no hype just good customer service and product.

I now also own a national marketing firm called B&C Marketing. We market and manage sales and product marketing for Springboost, Moskito, and Redi-Thotics. We also play in the fashion and Sporting good worlds with brands like Ed Hardy, Julbo, Insect Shield, Mossy Oak, Sloggers, and Cold Snapp.  I travel all over the country working with all footwear retail. We work with Zappos, Dillards, Macys, Shoebuy.com, shoe.com, Nordstrom and many others. Look for my travel notes on places to stay (Hotels) and eat and my choices of where not to as well.

Watch for our new Green products coming soon from Eccobabble

Until next time, Happy Workin

Dave’s River Trip Story

Monday, April 27th, 2009

A canoe trip on the Mullberry River in Arkansas in the spring of the year is a fun,  exciting  experience for anyone who likes the outdoors and adventure.  I did take time off from our online shoe website www.lionfootweardirect.com offering Rockport Margin, Dansko footwear, Sandro Moscoloni, Birkenstock chef shoes, Birkenstock Super Birki, Birko balance and birko sport arch supports, Ultimate Protein,  Avia women’s running shoes, and men’s walking shoes. From the middle of March to June is the best time to go on a canoe trip down the Mullberry River.  The Mullberry River is located 25 miles east of Ft. Smith, Arkansas on I-40 to Hwy 23 at the Ozark exit, then  north to Turner Bend.  Turner Bend is open 7 days a week and offers canoe rentals , shuttles,  14 camping sites, a general store offering gas, camping supplies, groceries, restrooms and showers.  The Mullberry River is a National Scenic river and is known for excellent white water class ll rapids and beautiful Ozark mountain scenery that flows through the heart of the Ozark National Forrest’s Boston Mountains.  The water level is controlled by area rainfall and you need to contact Turner Bend to find out if the river offers good canoeing conditions.  A pair of Sanuks ordered from our internet store www.lionfootweardirect.com  would be great shoes to wear on the river to protect your feet in and out of the water and the Sanuks would dry out fast. Rockport’s World Tours would be great shoes to wear around the camp and to take walks in. The Mullberry has rapids with names like Jump Start, Whoop and Holler, Sacroiliac Rapid, Hamm Falls, and Hell Roaring Falls.  The upper part of the Mullberry has more twists and turns and willows in the water while the lower part has longer pools and bigger rapids with more rocks in the river. The Mullberry River flows in a west – southwesterly course down t0ward the Arkansas River. The Mullberry is a river that deserves respect, but it’s also a river that deserves it’s reputation as the best float stream in the state. Check out Turner Bend’s website for more information about the Mullberry River. Then check out our website for online shoes www.lionfootweardirect.com and shop Dansko footwear, Birkenstock chef shoes, Birko balance and Birko sport arch supports, Birki sporty, Rockport Margin, Ultimate Protein, Avia women’s running shoes and Avia men’s walking shoes.
